Turnstile - Never Enough, Review and Rating

Turnstile - Never Enough Review and Rating

By Chilly Oppa

If someone asked me, “Who is the mainstream hardcore band of this generation?”, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. The answer is Turnstile. Full stop.

After a four-year gap (aside from the trippy, genre-blending New Heart Designs collab with BADBADNOTGOOD), Turnstile storms back with the title track for their upcoming album, Never Enough. And let me tell you, it hits. Hard.

The song kicks off with an arresting synth line, setting a moody, almost dreamlike tone. But it doesn’t linger, Brendan Yates’ unmistakable, resonant voice cuts through the atmosphere with that familiar emotional weight. His vocals feel cavernous, echoing like a call from deep within a tunnel, pulling you in right before the track explodes into a tempo shift and one of the most addictive choruses I’ve heard in a minute. Fuzzy guitars and punchy drums crash together in pure Turnstile fashion.

What I love about this band is all here, that blend of aggression and euphoria. It’s hardcore that doesn’t just mosh, it moves. It's stage-diving, sunlit, feel-good chaos. It’s the kind of song that makes me wanna dust off the ol' skateboard (though let’s be real, these knees ain’t built for that anymore).

“Never Enough” didn’t just meet my expectations, it shot past them and left me buzzing. If the rest of the album keeps this momentum, we might be looking at another instant classic. GLOW ON was a defining moment for them, and this feels like a worthy evolution. Let’s just say, I’m all in. Again.
